The dinette is almost finished. I slapped the old cushions back on there because I don't have new ones yet. The idea is to have a very comfortable sitting position and a table that you can shove out of the way, use in the kitchen, or as an end table. The bottom drawer pulls out and becomes a footrest and step to get into the bed. Haven't used it much yet but initial impression is that it is going to be a great improvement. More cabinets are coming and a clever way (in my opinion) to make another forward facing seat.

I work slowly but eventually get things done. The new dinette is coming to life. Two drawers by the door for his and hers shoes. Or maybe more realistically, hers and hers. The large drawer on the bottom is also a foot rest and step for climbing into bed. Excited to play with the table geometry options.

Lagun table mount installed. I asked myself why this build process takes so long. I realized that it's all in the details, all this custom work. In order for my new dining table to do what I want I had to ditch the pedestal for a lagun mount. For it to work properly it needs to be mounted on the corner of the new bench. The corner isn't strong enough to support the table weight so I had to weld up a mount and bolt it through the floor. Something that you would think would be so simple ends up taking a whole day to complete. It's also terribly satisfying when you get to finally mount the table and everything works the way you hoped. I'm not there yet, still building drawers. I'll post some pictures when I get closer to the end.

It's time for a remodel. There used to be a stand-up air conditioner under my dinette. I removed that over a year ago when I installed the mini split system. The time has come to redo the whole living/dining room for more comfortable seating and some drawers.
